Hey Guys,
Ive gotten this crazy idea in my head that i want to go to Med school, but in order for universities to consider your application, you need to have done some work experience in some way relating to health care.
Unfortunately I have none, so im looking for some part time voluntary work, either in a hospital, or GP surgery, or care home, or anything you can think of to do with medicine (Idealy id like some time in a mortuary, as i wanna study pathology after medschool).

So i know this is a long shot, but often the best way into this kinda thing is knowing someone who already works in the industry. So if you do work in one of these settings, or know someone who may be able to help me out? please let me know!
Getting into Medicine is so incredibly hard, so i need all the help i can get.

Thanx guys.

Have spoke to one of my mates. She's off work at the mo with a broken wrist but she will speak with one of the guys she works with to see what they say.
I'll speak to my other mate as soon as i see him and see what he says too.

Oh also... my other friend (oh i have lots of friends hehe) works at GP surgery says....

They take on work experience but they only offer note summarising. Given a set of patient notes and you just list all probs, ops and inj etc on computer. They get a little bit of training (mainly on reception) and limited pay.

She says its easier to get on a biochem course which allow switch to mediine if 1st year grades are good.

She reckons if you write to the practice manager at your local surgery you'l prob get the work exp.

Hope that helps??

Jxx
