Drinking soda is bad for your health in so many ways; science can’t even state all the consequences. Here’s what happens in your body when you assault it with a Coke:

Within the first 10 minutes, 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. This is 100 percent of your recommended daily intake, and the only reason you don’t vomit as a result of the overwhelming sweetness is because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor.

Within 20 minutes, your blood sugar spikes, and your liver responds to the resulting insulin burst by turning massive amounts of sugar into fat.

Within 40 minutes, caffeine absorption is complete; your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, and your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream.

Around 45 minutes, your body increases dopamine production, which stimulates the pleasure centers of your brain – a physically identical response to that of heroin, by the way.

After 60 minutes, you’ll start to have a sugar crash.

Better uses for Coca Cola:

In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coke into the toilet bowl. Let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean.

The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a crumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. It's pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days.

To carry Coca Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly Corrosive materials.

The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Still fancy drinking it? How about water?:

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half the world population.)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak ,that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

BUT I LOVE COKE!!!! admittedly don't drink it every day but sometimes a full-fat coke is the only thing that keeps me going. DOn't drink coffee though. Have always hated the diet and non-sugar cokes, though which i see is just as well as is full of aspartme...(see other topic).

Get so bored with water on it's own and I don't like putting squash in it as it's just putting the sugar and grossness back in...

I remember all those chemistry tests at school though, i remember putting one of my old teeth in some coke and it went squidgy.... (bleurgh) I remember now that it put me off drinking coke for a bit, just like it has now.... maybe I don't like coke so much after all..... :(

I totally agree that coca cola or just cola in general was definately having a bad impact on my health, I've stopped drinking it for about 6 months now and the difference is really noticeable my tummy is alot flatter, my complexion from drinking water instead has improved drastically. I don't go out drinking very often but I've been naughty recently because I'll drink southern comfort and lemonades thats got to be bad for me but I can't help myself :-( I don't go out drinking as often as I used to, so now I'm a complete lightweight hahaha
