Hey guys, i dunno bout you, but i really ached after training on Sunday, and i never ache.

Im thinking that it possibly could have been because of the dynamic stretches that we did at the begining of training.
I know some of you read some info about whether we need to strecth at the beginning, and if its benficial/bad for etc, which is why we tried this thing out.

But i asked my boyf about what he knew, and he says that by doing an "active" stretch before training (an active stretch is where u stretch out muscles really far) Then this is not good, and should only be done at the end of training, when you are very warm,

But he said that doing a "cold" stretch at the begining of training (a cold strecth is when you stretch the muscles you are going to use, but only slightly, and stop before pulling them too hard into discomfort) is actually beneficial.

Where as a dynamic stretch can also be beneficial, (Dynamic stretch is the moving stretches we did on Sunday) but only once you are warmed up. If u do a dynamic stretch from cold, then this can be bad (hence achey muscles now).

Id therefore prefer not doing a stretch over doing a dynamic stretch when cold.
I said to a few people on Sunday after doing the dynamic stretch that we used to do it at netball training (occasionally, not always) and now i remember aching after doing that too!

Now, i know that my boyf isnt anyone official, like a trainer or anything, but he has been training/cycling for years, and gotten advice from the people in the know, when training for races etc.

I dont have access to the forum u guys have already started on this topic, so i dunno what u guys have previously said/read, but id love to hear everyone throughts!

Not being there on Sunday, I don't know what a dynamic stretch is, but it makes sense that when you're cold you should take it easy and stretch less. Especially don't bounce on your muscles when cold as you could pull them and hurt them. The best way to warm up is to exercise gradually, then maybe stretch a bit

why don't we do a combination of both of them? the best bits of each?

Yes, I was going to sugest that actually.

You know when we usually do the endurance thing with knee drops, and push ups, and situps etc. They are great! Cos we are already warm from skating, but also doing certain stretches at the same time.

I was therefore gonna suggest we try and incorporate some od the dynamic stretches we did, with the drops and things we do already. If thats possible!

I'll email my personal trainer and see what he recommends that we do.
