Well done to the fierce ladies of Glasgow for taking the day! It was a great display of derby and many new fans were made. And we SOLD OUT! We had to turn people away and there were even people trying to sneak in!

What a great venue & great atmosphere - thanks to our managers on the day, Robscene & Jan Halen. And thank you to all the LRR girlies working tirelessly on merch, track maintenance, the door, all the officiator jobs, our lineup manager - everyone! Without you it would have just been chaos.

Hats off to all our girlies popping their bouting cherries - Scarlett O'Hades, Shellfire, Red'n'Roll, Frightning Bolt. We are all so very proud of you. In the words of Nia Capps of Derby Luv, "It's better to lose than not play, and better to fall down than not skate."
<3

We had to wait a year to get the right venue for derby LRR style and I'm sure you'll all agree it was worth the wait. We pulled off our first home bout and it is only gonna get easier and better everytime now! Roll on June!

You guys did an amazing job…having chatted with some of the audience, people new to derby were in awe, and those that have been to bouts before thought it was the best one ever: the venue was a fantastic setting and you guys fought hard and passionately, and it shone through regardless of the scoreboard. Anybody that might say otherwise is just lying or envious, so just don't listen to them...
I know I've been in the team for just a few months, but it was clear from the beginning how much derby and this first home bout meant to you all. And I also know how much work you guys have put in it. And to be fair, you did the organizing, I only picked up the end details so that you guys could concentrate on the skating…
I'm putting together a list of things that we should discuss at some point (it definitely can wait for a while though) to make the next bout even smoother, plus things that didn't come up until the day (by now you know I love my lists...). But for now, just be proud of what an awesome bout the rockin' rollers hosted!

I second Robscene here, we picked up the tail end of what had been planned and worked towards for a long time, and to take my hat off to her again, she did the lion's share of the work on the day, I only made the odd suggestion, but she was cool as a polar bear's toenails all day and kept it together. And thanks again everybody that gave their time to help out, not once did I hear any grizzling or moaning from the volunteers

As for the actual bout, you ladies skated like your lives depended on it, and it really showed, mates of mine who didn't even know what derby was were totally engaged with it and doing lots of shouting. Even poor drunken Mr Halen, a derby veteran of 7 bouts was blown away. I've just about talked him into getting a LRR prison style tattoo on his bottom lip

You all rock

well done Bouters , twas a seriously gripping bout ...Robscene and Jan Halen well done organising us volunteers and i will admit I was a little frightened by you Rob at the beginning , but I realise just how stressful it was getting things to run as smoothly as possible , I had a blast and got to see quite a bit of the bout ...it was really hard work stubbing those tickets lol there were so many people trying to sneak on passed. look forward to being involved with the next one...and my mate Sarah is now a derby fan xx

hi everyone.
I spoke to the journalist from Pinstriping mag who came down to see us on Saturday, he had to leave after the bout so couldn't make it to the after bout party - but he called me today to say he was VERY Impressed by the game and the event as a whole. They will run a short piece about the bout in the next issue (April / May) and he then said he wanted to cover our next bout , and write a full article about the event for their next issue in June / July.

He came down with two friends (paying friend) and they were all soooo impressed with the whole thing!!

We rock and roll.

Kit x

RD:UK is the book Spida X put out. I'm guessing that's all the images taken on the day. Can I have a copy burnt for the website please?

Apparently the disc is faulty, it copies up to photo # 150 then jams...one of my lovely assistant editors is trying to fix it tonight though, so hopefully I'll have a few copies on Sunday, x
